Ebenezer Church is a Christ-centered church plant in Toronto, born from a desire to live out the gospel with depth, offer spiritual support, and build meaningful community.
Our name Ebenezer comes from 1 Samuel 7:12 and means “Rock of Help” or “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” It reminds us that God is our firm foundation—the One who sustains, strengthens, and leads us.
We exist to live a genuine faith, build strong relationships, teach the Word faithfully, and serve our city with love and purpose. We believe that a life rooted in Christ can transform families, communities, and generations.

The story of Ebenezer Church begins with a calling — and two people willing to say yes.
In 2021, Pastor Clovis Ricardo and his wife Sthefani arrived in Toronto with faith in their hearts and a vision in their hands. From their very first days on Canadian soil, they felt a deep and unmistakable need: a church community that was spiritually healthy, grounded in Scripture, and centred on the grace of God.
Their dream was not just for themselves. They longed to build a place of belonging — a spiritual home rooted in the Portuguese-speaking Brazilian community, yet wide enough to welcome English and Spanish speakers too. In one of the world’s most multicultural cities, they believed the Church should reflect the diversity and unity of the body of Christ.
That vision found its echo in faithful friends. Through sincere conversations and moments of prayer and fellowship with Douglas and Danielly Bezerra, what had been a personal calling became a shared mission. Together, they recognized the spiritual hunger in Toronto — and felt the Spirit’s clear invitation: the time to act had come.
And so, in April 2025, Ebenezer Church was born. Named after the Stone of Help raised by Samuel in 1 Samuel 7:12 — a monument to God’s faithfulness — our church stands as a testimony that the Lord brings us this far. With humble beginnings, a generous God, and a community of courageous hearts, we stepped forward in faith.
