You Were Born for This Moment

Mordecai’s question to Esther still speaks today: for what moment has God placed you where you are? A reflection on providence, position, and courage.

Esther’s story reminds us that God is never absent, even when His name seems hidden from the visible scene. She did not choose the complexity of her position, the danger of her moment, or the weight of the decision placed before her. Yet Mordecai’s words confronted her with a holy possibility: “Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Providence does not always feel dramatic while we are living inside it. Often, it looks like ordinary faithfulness, difficult timing, and uncomfortable courage. God places His people in families, workplaces, neighbourhoods, churches, and seasons where obedience matters.

Your position is not accidental

Esther had access that others did not have. Her place in the palace carried responsibility. In the same way, we should ask how God might use our relationships, opportunities, and influence for His purposes. Position is not only privilege; it is stewardship.

Courage grows through surrender

Esther’s courage was not reckless. It was costly and prayerful. She knew the risk, yet she chose obedience. Biblical courage is not the absence of fear. It is faith acting in trust when fear is real and the outcome is not guaranteed.

God works through faithful availability

We may never fully know what hangs on a single act of obedience. A conversation, a prayer, a decision to stand for what is right, or a willingness to serve may become part of God’s larger work. The question is not whether we feel impressive enough to be used by God. The question is whether we are available.

You were not born into this moment by accident. God calls His people to live with courage, humility, and faithfulness wherever He has placed them. The moment may be difficult, but the Lord is faithful.

Reflection question: Where might God be calling you to courageous faithfulness in this particular season?
